Misconceptions about Web Analytics – #1

One misconception I often see about web analytics is that you have to be a statistical genius and/or be a Nate Silver level expert. Most of the people I know who kick ass at web analytics didn’t study statistics in college. Most of the time that level of statistical predictive analysis isn’t even required of most people’s work. Understanding how websites, mobile sites, apps, etc are built and how they are tracked is ultimately way more important that stats knowledge for most places. So invest in javascript courses and get to know the tool you’re using before investing in R or taking lots of stats classes.
