I’ve been a bit quiet here over the summer, but I’ve been up to a lot so I wanted to share it, in my usual quarterly self promotional blog post.
I’m working with Citizen Engagement Laboratory’s Cultural Pulse project, and I’ve been doing a lot of writing there which may be of interest to you if you work in the intersection of social activism and pop culture.
Over at The Learned Fangirl, We’ve been expanding a bit. We’re still publishing long-form essays about fan culture as part of our Seminar Series, but we’re also doing media literacy on pop culture criticism workshops at Skokie Public Library and Harold Washington Library. We are aiming to do more, so just contact thelearnedfangirl@gmail.com if you are a library or community organization and wish to partner with us or you have a pitch for us!
I was on KPCC’s Take Two show talking about Star Trek on July 22
And I’ve been doing some music/writing stuff, getting songs played on the Female Frequency radio show and getting republished on the Keratoconus Group blog.
Anyway, it’s been a busy summer! More to come!
